SEC officiating torched during epic LSU, Texas A&M overtime game

In an epic clash marred by countless whistles, non-reviews and questionable calls going against LSU on the road, Tigers coach Ed Orgeron wants answers.

After seven overtimes on Saturday night in College Station, Texas A&M outlasted LSU for a 74-72 win in the highest-scoring game in the history of college football.

A series of jaw-dropping sequences and game-deciding whistles began in the final moments of the fourth quarter when Kellen Mond completed a 22-yard pass to Kendrick Rogers to the LSU 19. Without a timeout, the Aggies quarterback appeared to spike the football as time expired. But after review, the Aggies were given another second and tied the game on a strike to Quartney Davis,, kicking off a record-setting seven overtime sessions.

"That 1 second, in my opinion, should’ve never been put up,” Orgeron said. "That was very unfair that it happened to our football team. We battled the whole time. Give credit to our guys. We fought, we fought and kept on fighting, we just didn’t make enough plays. There were opportunities to win the football game and put ourselves in position to win it.

"They should’ve never put another second on the clock. Momentum kept on changing in their way.”

National media and others blasted the SEC officiating crew that became the story after several calls went noticeably against the Tigers:
