After Texas A&M beat LSU Saturday in a bonkers game that tied the FBS overtime record (seven) and set a new points record (146), an LSU staffer threw a punch at someone who appears to have either been working for A&M or been affiliated with the team.
LSU director of player development Kevin Faulk, a former Tigers and NFL running back, scuffled with someone wearing an on-field credential.
Faulk’s fist is closed in this photo, which makes it look like he’s throwing a punch, but I haven’t seen video of the incident to confirm that:
There are hundreds of people on the field at any given college football game, many with different credentials that go to people with different functions (media, security, VIPs, team staff, band and cheerleading staff, and the like). And after the game, there were plenty of people who look like regular fans milling around on the field.
But that guy’s dressed like some kind of support staffer would be, and the Dallas Morning News’ Ben Baby shot a video of the man going right up to Jimbo Fisher on the head coach’s way off the field, then engaging Fisher in conversation:
It feels unlikely that some random guy would have gotten Fisher’s attention so promptly.
The guy in the red shirt is rumored, though not confirmed, to have punched LSU assistant Steve Kragthorpe, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
An LSU reporter for 247Sports said:
Word is that this person punched LSU's Steve Kragthorpe, who is suffering from Parkinson's.

LSU’s punter described a “random Aggie fan” punching Kragthorpe:
Also congratulations random Aggie fan who punched Steve Kragthorpe. (He has Parkinson’s) Stay classy. I hope you get assault charges brought against you.

But LSU said, as the picture indicates, that a credentialed A&M person hit Kragthorpe.
#LSU confirmed that analyst Steve Kragthorpe was punched by the credentialed member from Texas A&M. Kragthorpe has been checked out and is OK.

There’s a ton, obviously, that we still don’t know. A&M’s sports information director, Alan Cannon, said the school was looking into it, according to The Advocate.
We’ll update this post as needed and as more information becomes available.
