Jon Jones continues to challenge Dana White’s negotiation claims: ‘No one needs to put up with Dana’s lies’ - MMA Fighting

If it’s up to Jon Jones, there’s a lot more that needs to be said between him and UFC President Dana White.

Jones and White have been embroiled in a war of words this week, with White accusing Jones of of asking for too much of a boost in pay for a discussed superfight with heavyweight Francis Ngannou. The UFC light heavyweight champion responded by calling White “a f**king liar” and daring him to release him if he considered didn’t value him at the same level as other combat sports stars, such as boxer Deontay Wilder.

Speaking to the media this week, White said it was “absurd” for Jones to demand that kind of money and at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 9 post-fight press conference he reiterated that Jones’s greatness does not in itself make him worthy of a “$30 million” purse.

Later that evening, Jones fired back, scoffing at White’s reluctance to share an alleged text exchange between the two detailing their negotiations.

From Jones’s perspective, it’s White who is responsible for their public spat escalating and he explained that he bears no ill will towards UFC Executive Vice President Hunter Campbell, with whom he said he had “a very respectful conversation.” Jones then doubled down on challenging White to release him if he isn’t going to respect his request for greater compensation.

“At no point did I ever demand anything from you Dana, I simply asked for a superfight and asked to be compensated for it,” Jones wrote. “You are the one who started talking negotiations publicly and showing the world how much you’ve been withholding from your athletes this whole time.”

Should his relationship with the UFC sour to the point of no return, Jones expects to have other options outside of MMA whether it be boxing, entertainment, or focusing on his private life.

“I’d probably make more in my first boxing match than my next three UFC fights combined,” Jones wrote. “There’s real estate, acting, just kicking it and being a dad. No one needs to put up with Dana’s lies.”
