Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown led a protest driving for 15 hours in support of the George Floyd. Floyd, a black man, was killed by a policeman a few days back. The policeman, Derek Chauvin, kneeled on Floyd’s neck for several minutes in spite of Floyd shouting he couldn’t breathe.
The death led to many condemning racial discrimination which also included a few celebrities. Brown, driving from Georgia to Atlanta, streamed his protest live on Instagram. He also posted a few videos of his speeches.
“I drove 15 hours to get to Georgia, my community,” Brown said (H/T ESPN). “This is a peaceful protest. Being a celebrity, being an NBA player, don’t exclude me from no conversations at all. First and foremost, I’m a black man and I’m a member of this community. We’re raising awareness for some of the injustices that we’ve been seeing. It’s not OK.
“As a young person, you’ve got to listen to our perspective. Our voices need to be heard. I’m 23 years old. I don’t know all of the answers. But I feel how everybody else is feeling, for sure. No question.”

Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown joined his fellow NBA stars in protest against injustice
Along with Brown, Indiana Pacers’ Malcolm Brogdon and NBA G-League player Justin Anderson also participated in the protest. With the protest, Brown and co. joined a list of celebrities that were against the incident. Earlier, the likes of LeBron James took to Instagram to raise voice against the injustice. Also, former NBA player Stephen Jackson, who was a close friend of Floyd, mourned his death and later went on a rally in his support.
“I’m here because they’re not gonna demean the character of George Floyd, my twin,” Jackson said
The rally also saw Minnesota Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Okogie take part in it. Towns took part in it in spite of having just lost his mother. Towns had lost his mother Jacqueline Cruz-Towns due to complications of coronavirus in April at the age of 58.
