Amid uncertainty around the 2020 Minor League Baseball season, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher David Price is reportedly going to pay each of the team's minor leaguers $1,000.
As first reported by baseball journalist Francys Romero and confirmed by ESPN's Alden Gonzalez, Price will pay around 200 Dodgers minor leaguers not on the 40-man roster for the month of June.
Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reported the Dodgers are among the teams that have committed to paying their minor leaguers $400 per week through June.
On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated's Stephanie Apstein obtained an email from Oakland Athletics general manager David Forst in which he informed the team's minor leaguers that their weekly stipend would come to an end after May 31.
The 2020 Minor League Baseball season has yet to be officially canceled, but ESPN's Jeff Passan reported it is a "near certainty" after hundreds of players were cut Thursday with more likely to come.
Passan noted the total number of cuts "could wind up numbering more than 1,000."
As part of an agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association signed in March, teams paid a combined $170 million to players on 40-man rosters from the originally scheduled Opening Day of March 26 through May 24, per the Associated Press.
The Dodgers acquired Price in February as part of the Mookie Betts deal with the Boston Red Sox.
