Harry Miller is out against Clemson in the CFB Playoff semifinal - 247Sports

Ohio State has been battling COVID-19 all season and the Buckeyes aren't done yet. After having players out in each of the last two games, the Scarlet and Gray will be without at least one starter on Friday evening against Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

Left guard Harry Miller will not suit up in the Sugar Bowl and did not travel with the team to New Orleans. Miller's mother, Kristina, confirmed as much with a post on her personal Facebook page. Miller posted the following message on Friday:

GOOD Riddance 22!!!!

We should be partying in New Orleans with our Buckeye Family, but in true 2020 fashion, Harry had The Rona and can’t play, or even travel with his brothers. **(He’s TOTALLY FINE, had cold-like symptoms for 3 days, no smell, but obviously extremely disappointed to miss this huge game).

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate 2021 than with a Buckeye Victory over #ThatTeamDownSouth !!!!!

Miller, a sophomore, is a first-year starter for the Buckeyes. After serving as the backup center to Josh Myers a year ago, Miller moved over to left guard to fill in for the departed Jonah Jackson, now with the Detroit Lions, in 2020. Miller returned to his center position for the Dec. 5 game against Michigan State, starting in that role when Myers was one of three starting offensive lineman to not make the trip to East Lansing due to COVID-19 protocols.

In Miller's place will likely be redshirt sophomore Matthew Jones. Jones was the primary backup to Jackson last year and played 114 total offensive snaps in that role in 2019. He started at left guard against the Spartans when Miller moved over to center.

The Buckeyes' battle with COVID-19 started when the Big Ten canceled football and carried throughout the year with games getting canceled after players tested positive for the virus once the season was rescheduled. COVID-19 struck the Buckeye program in November and forced the Scarlet and Gray to miss the game against Illinois and kept at least 20 players out against Michigan State and in the Big Ten Championship Game against Northwestern.
