What Kirby Smart said about Alabama after losing SEC title game to the Tide - Saturday Down South

The Georgia Bulldogs lost a thrilling SEC title game to Alabama on Saturday afternoon, and now their College Football Playoff hopes are on life support.

However, the Dawgs gave Alabama their best game of the year, and that should count for something when the committee is choosing teams.

After the game, Georgia coach Kirby Smart had plenty of praise for the Crimson Tide, crediting them for the second-half comeback (via 247Sports):

“A lot of credit goes to Alabama. They outperformed us in the second half. The game had a lot of momentum swings in it, up and down, up and down, back and forth, which we knew it would.”

Smart added that he thinks the Dawgs should get into the Playoff field, arguing that Alabama wouldn’t want to see them again:

“Well, it boils down to one thing. Do you want the four best teams in or not? It’s that simple. They sat at home last year and got to go in the game while everybody else is beating each other up, and they had a good football team. Give that coach across the sideline a vote who he doesn’t want to play. He’ll start with us. I promise you, you don’t want to play us. It’s not our decision. It’s their decision. But you’re going to put the four best football teams in.”

The Bulldogs’ fate is in the committee’s hands now, but Smart is right — no one wants to play Georgia right now.
