CSAC to extend UFC 232 official weigh-in window due to location change - MMA Fighting

UFC 232 fighters will get an extra hour to weigh in Friday.

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) is extending the weigh-in window from two hours to three hours due to the short-notice change in location of the event from Las Vegas to Inglewood, Calif., per CSAC executive officer Andy Foster. The official weigh-ins will now run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time.

UFC 232 was initially scheduled to be in Las Vegas, up until Sunday. But the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) would not license Jon Jones to fight Alexander Gustafsson in the main event due to an adverse finding in his drug-test results. Because of that, the UFC decided to uproot the entire event to California, where Jones is already licensed.

Foster and USADA, the UFC’s anti-doping partner, have maintained — citing experts and scientists — that Jones having a steroid metabolite found in his system is the same one he was sanctioned for in July 2017 with no evidence of new ingestion and no performance-enhancing affects.

Many fighters have already arrived in Las Vegas and will be flown to Los Angeles on Thursday by the UFC. Most of them will be finishing up their weight cuts Thursday night into Friday morning. Foster said commission licensing procedures are usually done Thursday night, but will now be done as part of weigh-ins Friday morning.

Herb Dean is out as referee of the UFC 232 light heavyweight title main event between Jones and Gustafsson due to injury, per Foster. Mike Beltran will replace him as the third man in the cage.

Foster said he is attempting to keep in place all the referees and judges who were already booked to work the two title fights when the card was in Nevada. Marc Goddard will be the referee for the Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes co-main event for the UFC women’s featherweight title.

The judges for the Jones vs. Gustafsson main event are scheduled to be: Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo. Chris Lee, Dave Hagen and Mike Bell are the judges scheduled for Cyborg vs. Nunes.
