CLEVELAND, Ohio - Freddie Kitchens once again wondered what all the fuss was about in regards to Baker Mayfield's fiery nature.
This time, the question was about Mayfield's sideline celebration with Kitchens after a touchdown pass to Darren Fells' in which he jokingly appeared to make a lewd gesture.
"If I told you (what he said), you can't tell anybody,'' Kitchens said with a laugh in his Thursday press conference. "He came over and he simply said, 'Great play call.' No, I'm just kidding. That's something in our room that's an inside deal in our room that's going to stay in our room. It's not a big deal.''
He said it was all in good fun and "I don't know what he did wrong. I don't know. I don't understand what he did wrong. I don't understand what the big deal is. He's in the middle of a football game in the National Football League. There's great emotion in a game of football, and whatever he does on the football field is on the football field. I like guys that have a relentless pursuit of competition, and they rally around the competition.
"Sometimes when you're in competition, somethings you do, you just do. You don't even know why the hell you do it, but I don't have a problem with Baker. If I did, I would talk to him about it, and any conversation I had with him would stay between us."
