I think we can all breathe a little easier now that reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion, Max Holloway, has made the 145-pound mark for this Saturday night’s (Dec. 8, 2018) title defense against Brian Ortega, who also came in on weight for their championship showdown in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Watch the UFC 231 early weigh-in video here.
There was some concern about the durability of “Blessed” based on a pair of health scares earlier this year (more on that here and here), but the Hawaiian proved the naysayers wrong by hitting his mark without incident.
I guess he’s not too big after all.
Also making it official in the UFC 231 co-main event were Valentina Shevchenko and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. There was little doubt for this one, as “Bullet” easily made weight for her 125-pound debut earlier this year and Jedrzejczyk is a natural flyweight. They’ll collide for the vacant flyweight strap, stripped from Nicco Montano for this.
Nothing left to do now except fight.
