Rams' Aaron Donald won't go easy on former teammate Jared Goff: 'I told him I'm coming after him' - Yahoo Sports

The Los Angeles Rams are welcoming the Detroit Lions to town for their Week 7 game, and at least one Rams player is ready to get after his former teammate, Jared Goff

Goff is returning to Los Angeles for the first time since the Rams traded him to Detroit for Matthew Stafford over the offseason. Goff was the Rams' quarterback for the better part of five seasons, so he'll be seeing a lot of familiar faces on the field.

Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is one of those players. He and Goff were teammates for five years, and Donald told the media that they've been exchanging texts leading up to Sunday's game, making jokes as friends do. But on the field, it's all business. He won't be taking it easy on Goff just because they played together.

Via the Los Angeles Times:

“It ain’t going to be weird at all,” Donald said, chuckling. “I told him, ‘Get ready.’ I told him I’m going to be coming after him, so he knows what it is.

“I’m going to go out there, fly around try to make my plays when they present themselves. Hopefully I get to him a couple times.”

Goff was of course asked about the Rams during the week, and Donald specifically. He had nothing but glowing compliments to offer.

“Always competitive, always great, and I think back to those guys that — as any team you want to be, your best players are your hardest workers, and I thought Aaron embodied that,” Goff said via MLive. “He is that way. He is a Hall of Fame talent, but he’s also a Hall of Fame worker, a person, a player, and kind of just competing against him every day for five years, he put it on display every day.”

These are not the kind of things they'll be saying to each other during the game on Sunday. Donald has an idea of what he'll say if he manages to take Goff down, but he's waiting until it actually happens to really figure it out.

“It could be anything,” Donald said via the LA Times. “I might bark at him. Might say something. I don’t know. It depends on how the game’s going, how the crowd’s got me pumped up.

“I’m more of that in-the-moment-type person so hopefully I get to him. Ask me after the game.”
