The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Chargers have one half of football in the books. Through two quarters, both teams have largely held serve. They matched each other with touchdown drives to begin the day on offense, but the Chargers were able to pull ahead when Justin Herbert connected with Keenan Allen for a 5-yard touchdown. That scoring drive was sparked by a 75-yard run by Justin Jackson earlier in the possession to begin the second quarter. New England nearly matched that score as well, but made some puzzling play calls at the goal line and turned the ball over on downs. In the closing minutes of the half, an Adrian Phillips interception off Herbert put the Patriots in position to kick a field goal and pull within one of the Chargers at the break.
Will the Patriots be able to fully mount the comeback and earn a road win or will the Chargers hang on to this lead and move to 5-2 on the season? We're about to find out.
