First Call: Ticket prices surge for Steelers vs. Packers; Tom Brady's message to dad - TribLIVE

Friday’s “First Call” features the latest injury news on the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Green Bay Packers. Ticket prices for that game at Lambeau Field are soaring. The Patriots-Buccaneers showdown even has Tom Brady’s dad in a tizzy.

And a few recent opponents for the Steelers are getting high honors.

Ticket talk

It could be the last matchup between Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers. It’s the first visit in Green Bay for the Steelers since 2013. So tickets are in high demand.

According to TickPick, the average purchase price is $411, making it the Packers’ most expensive home game this year. It’s the second most expensive ticket of the week following the steep Pats-Bucs matchup. Those tickets are going for $1,184 to see Tom Brady’s return to Foxborough.

TickPick reports that Steelers fans appear to be traveling in healthy numbers with 24% of purchases having a PA ZIP code.

A family affair

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady wasn’t thrilled when his father chimed in with some ill-timed trash talk against New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick in advance of the showdown between the two teams this weekend.

“Belichick wanted him out the door, and last year he threw (50) touchdowns. I think that’s a pretty good year,” Tom Sr. said on the “Patriots Talk” podcast.

Brady would prefer that his dear old dad tone down the “How do you like him now?” attitude.

Appearing on the latest “Let’s Go!” podcast, Brady joked:

“I’ve actually prepared a statement that I wanted to say, and it’s really all that I have to say on the subject. Comments made by Thomas Edward Brady, a 77-year-old insurance company CEO, who should know better at this point in his life, don’t necessarily reflect the views or positions held by his son, Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. So furthermore, should Tom Sr. continue to speak out on behalf of his son without the express written consent, Junior reserves the right to eventually put him in a home against his will. That’s all I have to say.”

It appears Brady Jr. was kidding …

… it appears.

On a hot streak

The Steelers have had a rough few weeks. They were upset losers to both the Cincinnati Bengals and Las Vegas Raiders at Heinz Field.

But at least they were losing to guys who were playing top notch football.

Vegas quarterback Derek Carr was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for Septmeber. Cincy wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was named AFC Rookie of the Month.

Both starred against the Steelers en route to their awards. In Week 2, Carr was 28 of 37 for 382 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 126.2 rating.

Chase has four touchdowns at the wide receiver position, more than all other rookie receivers combined. Two of them came at Heinz Field last Sunday.

Chase also had a touchdown of more than 30 yards in each of his first three NFL games.

Pack back has back ache

On Thursday, the Packers made two changes to their injury report in advance of their game against the Steelers on Sunday.

Via PackersWire.com, starting linebacker Krys Barnes returned to practice as a limited participant, as he continues to work through concussion protocol. Meanwhile, running back A.J. Dillon was added with a back ailment.

The Packers still didn’t get left tackle Elgton Jenkins (ankle) back. Receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (hamstring) and cornerback Kevin King (concussion) remained out, too.

As for the Steelers, receiver Chase Claypool was added to the injury report with a hamstring injury. All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt (groin), veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (pec) and receiver Diontae Johnson (knee) were all full participants. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs) was limited.
