Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is not expected to start Saturday when the fifth-ranked Sooners face Baylor.
According to a report from Yahoo Sports, Murray is being benched for disciplinary reasons. Instead, Austin Kendall will be behind center to start the game. The sophomore has completed eight of 10 passes for 88 yards and a touchdown this season
The story appeared to be confirmed by a tweet from Kendall's mother: "Game Day! Austin's first collegiate start is today against Baylor! @A_Kendall11 #proudnom #ballout??"
The tweet is protected but has been confirmed by multiple news outlets.
A request to Oklahoma for confirmation was not immediately returned.
This situation is not new for Oklahoma or Murray. Last year, Baker Mayfield did not start the team's final home game against West Virginia. Murray opened the game at quarterback and led the Sooners to a touchdown in two plays. Mayfield then replaced Murray on the following series.
With Mayfield's departure to the NFL, Murray has been one of the top performers in college football through the first four games of the season. He has thrown for 1,028 yards and 11 touchdowns and run for 240 yards and three scores.
