Ohio State coach Urban Meyer will not participate in the Amway Coaches Poll while he serves a three-game suspension handed down by the school Wednesday.
Meyer was selected as one of the 65 voters for this season. He did cast a ballot in the preseason poll that was released on Aug. 2.
The American Football Coaches Association, which chooses the members of the panel, said Meyer will return the week after his suspension expires following Ohio State's game against TCU on Sept. 15.
AFCA policy dictates that a coach serving an in-season suspension is not eligible to vote. This was the case in 2015 when then-Rutgers coach Kyle Flood sat out three games. A substitute voter from another Big Ten school served his his absence.
"As has been customary with our poll, if a coach is on suspension then he does not vote in our poll until the suspension has been resolved," Todd Berry, executive director of the AFCA, said.
A replacement will not be chosen during Meyer’s suspension, meaning for those three weeks the poll will have 64 ballots cast.

Maryland coach DJ Durkin, currently on administrative leave, is also ineligible to vote while the university conducts investigations of the football program. It is unclear if his ultimate employment status will be determined before the start of the season.
Coaches who are let go or resign their jobs once the season is underway have been asked to continue to vote in the poll, but Durkin would likely be replaced on the panel by another Big Ten coach if he were to be removed prior to the start of the campaign.
The first poll of the regular season will be Tuesday, Sept. 4 due to games on Labor Day weekend. The first Sunday poll of the season will be Sept. 9.
