Yankees acquire Diamondbacks' Brandon Drury in three-team deal

The Yankees have finally traded for Brandon Drury in a three-way deal with the Diamondbacks and Rays, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed.

The Yankees are sending Nick Solak to the Rays and Taylor Widener to the Diamondbacks, while Tampa Bay is sending Steven Souza to Arizona.

Top prospects Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar could be the future for the Yankees and second and third base, after trading away Starlin Castro and Chase Headley and not retaining free agent Todd Frazier left them with two potential holes in the lineup if the two elite prospects are not ready. Drury, who slashed .267/.317/.447 in 480 plate appearances with 13 home runs and 63 RBIs last season in Arizona, could now be the favorite to be the Opening Day third baseman.

Drury played 114 games at second base last season, but has also seen significant time at third base, left field and right field in his three-year career with the Diamondbacks. He had slightly better offensive numbers in 2015, but he was a replacement player overall (0.0 WAR). His WAR ticked up to 1.6 last season, and the improvement was all in his defense.

Drury’s offensive numbers have been very home-heavy. Chase Field is one of the best hitters’ parks in the majors.
