What the rest of the NBA traded while the Cavs blew it up

While the Cavaliers were busy dominating the headlines leading up to the NBA trade deadline, other teams also were making deals.

None of them had the seismic impact of Cleveland’s wheeling and dealing, but here’s a look at the other trades from a busy day in the NBA:

Miami trades Okaro White to Atlanta for Luke Babbitt

Babbitt left the Heat for the Hawks in free agency on a one-year deal, but returns to Miami to add more 3-point shooting. He’s made 44.1 percent of his 3-pointers this season and has knocked down at least 40 percent in each of the past four seasons.

White is a second-year player who has only appeared in six games this season. He’s been out since mid-November with a foot injury. Both players are free agents after this season and have similar salaries.

The Heat also added franchise legend Dwyane Wade from the Cavaliers in a shocking move.

Detroit trades Brice Johnson and a second-round pick to Memphis for James Ennis;

Detroit trades Willie Reed and a 2022 second-round pick to Chicago for Jameer Nelson and a 2022 second-round pick

The Pistons made a pair of deals in the wake of the Blake Griffin blockbuster. Adding Nelson gives them insurance at point guard until Reggie Jackson is ready to return a reliable backup for the rest of the season. Reed was recently suspended for six games because of a domestic violence incident.

Ennis has been a solid rotation player for the Grizzlies the past two seasons after they plucked him out of the G League, then lost him to the Pelicans and re-signed him. Like Reed, Johnson came from the Clippers with Griffin. He barely played for Los Angeles and had not played for Detroit. He was a first-round pick in the 2016 draft by the Clippers, but has played less than 50 minutes in his NBA career.

None of the players involved are under contract beyond this season. The Pistons will add a pro-rated portion of about $2.5 million from the two deals.

Raptors trade Bruno Caboclo to the Kings for Malachi Richardson

This trade saves the Raptors almost $1 million in cap space, which could come in handy if they pursue a player who gets bought out in the coming weeks. Caboclo has barely played for them since being a first-round pick in 2014, spending a lot of time in the G League. Richardson was a first-round pick by the Kings in 2016 and is under contract for next season, with a team option and a qualifying offer for the following two years.

Bulls trade the rights to Milocan Rakovic to the Trail Blazers for Noah Vonleh and cash

Vonleh was the No. 9 pick in the 2014 draft by the Hornets and was traded a year later to Portland with Gerald Henderson for Niclas Baturm. He has been a part-time starter in his three seasons with the Blazers, but he’s never averaged more than 4.4 points or 17.1 minutes per game. Vonleh is making a little more than $4 million this season, and making this deal can help Portland get below the luxury tax line if it doesn’t make any more moves.

Rakovic is 32 years old, and was the last pick of the 2007 draft. He’s never played in the NBA, and currently plays in Switzerland.
