None of us wanted to believe it, and many of us were wrong when saying it wouldn’t happen, but the Chiefs are dealing cornerback Marcus Peters after all.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Kansas City is trading Peters to the Los Angeles Rams. Compensation for Peters has yet to be revealed.

This trade comes shortly after Peters trade rumors began to heat up in the media. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk picked up the story and several others later followed. Many of us took the seemingly logical approach and wrote about why a Peters trade was unlikely, but it turns out that wasn’t the case after all.

Peters, 25, still has two years left on his rookie deal (assuming the Rams pick up his fifth-year option). He has been one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL over the past three seasons, racking up 19 interceptions, 55 pass deflections, six forced fumbles and two touchdowns in 45 starts. He has also twice been named a Pro Bowler and an all-pro.
