AND AS COACH NICK SABAN RELEASING A STATEMENT SAYING THAT HE’S ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF HIS 17 YEARS BEING HEAD COACH AT ALABAMA AND BECOMING PART OF THE TUSCALOOSA TUSCALOOSA COMMUNITY, HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT HE ALWAYS TRIED TO DO IT THE RIGHT WAY, AND THAT HE WILL ALWAYS CONSIDER ALABAMA OUR HOME AND ALL OF OUR NEEDS. AND AS YOU MENTIONED, CARLA THE BAMA FANS SHOWING UP BY THE DOZEN LAST NIGHT TO EXPRESS HOW MUCH NICK SABAN HAS MEANT TO THEM, SEVERAL FANS STILL CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS IT. I THINK THAT WE HAVE ALL LOOKED UP TO HIM AS AS FAMILY, AS MORE THAN A COACH, AS MORE THAN A LEADER. IT DIDN’T END THE WAY THAT WE WANTED IT TO THIS YEAR, BUT I THINK THAT THERE’S ENOUGH MEMORIES TO LAST A LIFETIME CHANGE. PEOPLE DON’T LIKE CHANGE. AND, UH, YOU KNOW, AN ICON DEMIGOD, IF YOU WILL. One of the greatest coaching careers in college football history is coming to a close.Nick Saban, the long-time head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, is retiring. Saban started as a head coach in 1990. He has coached at Toledo (1990), Michigan State (1995-1999), LSU (2000-2004) and Alabama (2007-2023).
