Word of Najee Harris’ tribute to Megan Rapinoe reached the star of the United States Women’s Soccer Team on Tuesday night.
Earlier in the day, the Alabama running back explained during a press conference ahead of the No. 1 Tide’s Rose Bowl appearance against Notre Dame on Friday why he tips his cap to Rapinoe.
“Really all the stuff she stands up for,” Harris said, per AL.com. “She’s a feminist and how the females, how women in the world gets treated unfairly and how they get paid different and different stuff than men. She stands up for all that. I like how she does that. And obviously the social injustice that happens, she plays a part in all that.”
Late Tuesday night, Rapinoe re-tweeted video of Harris’ comments with a message for the running back.
“Najeeeee Roll Tide!!!!! (did I do it right?) Be Great, get those roses and hurdle someone for me!” she tweeted.
Alabama plays Notre Dame at 3 p.m. CT Friday in the Rose Bowl semifinal.
Harris is among six Crimson Tide players named to The Associated Press All-America team, joining quarterback Mac Jones, receiver DeVonta Smith, tackle Alex Leatherwood, center Landon Dickerson and cornerback Patrick Surtain II gives the Crimson Tide six first-team selections, the most in the nation.
