The Bills were likely making room for wide receiver John Brown earlier this week when the team released wideout Jake Kumerow. It was expected that the Bills (11-3) were going to stash Kumerow back on their practice squad if they could, but they were foiled in that attempt on Thursday by a team that was also playing on Christmas, too.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Kumerow was claimed on the waiver wire by the New Orleans Saints, who beat the Minnesota Vikings that very same day as well. The Saints had recently suffered a string of injuries to their wide receiver room, so seeing such a team claim Kumerow comes as little surprise.

Kumerow mostly played a special teams role with Buffalo in 2020, however, he did just recently make a touchdown catch against the Denver Broncos in Week 15.

The Bills have not yet activated Brown from IR, but as mentioned, it’s a move that’s expected to happen. Buffalo next plays the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.
