Mike Tyson nearly went from a fight in the ring to a fight in the streets on Saturday night, according to a report.
TMZ Sports says that the boxing icon was on his way out of Staples Center following his bout with Roy Jones Jr., which was called a draw, when a man in a crowd of fans swung at Tyson.
While Tyson was signing autographs, the unidentified man yelled out to him asking why he wouldn’t fight him. Tyson reportedly joked with the man and said that it probably wouldn’t end well for him.
That’s when the heckler threw a punch and allegedly reached into his waistband for what Tyson’s team feared to be a weapon. His entourage, which reportedly recognized the man from a previous signing where he started trouble, stepped in immediately and prompted the guy to take off.
Police told TMZ Sports received a call about possible battery involving Tyson around 11pm, but no one was on the scene when they arrived and no report was taken.
