Drew Brees' touchdown pass to Latavius Murray puts Saints ahead temporarily - ESPN

NEW ORLEANS - Drew Brees did his best Patrick Mahomes impression (sort of) by escaping the pocket, barely avoiding pressure and floating a short pass to running back Latavius Murray for a 24-yard touchdown pass to give the New Orleans Saints a 15-14 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs early in the third quarter.

Not bad for a 41-year-old who just returned from 11 broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Brees and the Saints' offense sputtered for most of the first half as they trailed 14-0. He started 0-for-6 passing with an interception -- the first time he had ever started a game 0-for-5 or worse in his 20-year career, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

But he threw a beautiful 51-yard deep ball to receiver Emmanuel Sanders to spark New Orleans' first TD drive.

The Saints also tacked on two points just before halftime on a big safety that was also a big missed opportunity.

Linebacker Craig Robertson forced a fumble against Chiefs punt returner Demarcus Robinson. But fellow LB Alex Anzalone was unable to secure the ball in the end zone when he literally bounced off it while coming in with too much momentum.
