Anthony Davis greeted with boos, cheers upon return - ESPN

NEW ORLEANS -- All-Star Anthony Davis, making his return to the Pelicans lineup after missing nine games with a finger injury, was featured prominently on the scoreboard in the middle of the team picture when New Orleans came out of the tunnel for Friday night's game against the Timberwolves.

Last week, following his trade request from the Pelicans, Davis was removed from the team's pregame video.

When Davis' individual picture came up on the scoreboard Friday, he was cheered by a sparse crowd at Smoothie King Center.

The pregame video was a little different than the one last week, in which Davis was edited out of the roster in the Pelicans' first home game since the trade request. On Friday, he wasn't featured prominently, but he was in it.

When Davis was announced in the starting lineup Friday, there was a mixture of boos and cheers, with the boos a tad louder. He was then cheered when he scored his first points. It made for a somewhat awkward situation.

Every time Davis touched the ball, he was booed. But when he poured in buckets, he was cheered loudly.
