DENVER - Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield learned all about the The Mamba Mentality from Kobe Bryant on Friday afternoon, and then went out and played with it in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's 17-16 victory over the Broncos.

Bryant, the former Lakers superstar, paid a surprise visit to the Browns' team hotel on Friday and spent about an hour with them answering questions and sharing thoughts on how he became one of the greatest athletes of all time.

The visit was arranged by the Browns' player engagement manager Ron Brewer.

Bryant's keys to success are laid out in his book The Mamba Mentality: How I Play.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Kobe,'' Mayfield said after the game. "He's just one of those guys, attitude-wise, there's no one else in the world like him. He's just unbelievable. He was one of my idols growing up, I'm not good at basketball so not like that, but just mentality-wise. Work ethic, determination, will to win. It was so awesome getting to hear from him. He was so honest about everything and you don't normally get to hear that from somebody. It was good for us to hear that and I really enjoyed that."

Bryant shared his thoughts on outworking everyone, physical preparation and playing through injuries.

"It was like a Q-and-A so there wasn't one message,'' said Mayfield. "The one thing you hear about, that mamba mentality, that's true. He's a dog when it comes down to it."

Mayfield believes the session carried over to the game, where the Browns rallied from a 13-10 fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Broncos and improve to 6-7-1.

"I think getting our guys to believe in it and do their job,'' he said. "That was one thing he kept harping on. It doesn't matter what anyone else does. You have to do your job first and foremost. After that, you can start worrying about the big picture. So maybe it did, maybe it didn't but I definitely enjoyed it though.''
