N.F.L. Week 3: Live Scores, Updates and Highlights

• The San Francisco 49ers are making a comeback against the Chiefs, who led 35-7 at one point behind a record-setting performance by Patrick Mahomes. Seventeen straight unanswered points have the Niners down just 35-24.

• Carson Wentz has the Philadelphia Eagles down just three, 16-13, early in the fourth quarter against the Indianpolis Colts. He has thrown for more than 200 yards in his first game back.

• The Redskins lead the Packers, 28-17. Alex Smith found Paul Richardson for a 46-yard touchdown on the team’s first drive, but Aaron Rodgers has responded with a 64-yard touchdown pass to Geronimo Allison.

How to watch: The N.F.L. Week 3 schedule and our picks here.

The star of the Chiefs-49ers game is Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but this touchdown celebration by San Francisco must be noted:

The only evidence that Carson Wentz was holding back during his masterly opening drive, which ended with a 13-yard touchdown to Dallas Goedert? His celebration. Instead of a full leap as he and Goedert bumped hips, Wentz took a more measured jump. — Ben Shpigel

• Thanks in part to back-to-back electrifying performances by both Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, the N.F.L. set a record for total touchdowns through two weeks, leading to the second-most overall points. The games have also been close, with 25 of the 32 games being within a score at some point during the fourth quarter.

• The Chargers and Rams will meet at Memorial Coliseum for the first matchup between Los Angeles teams since 1994. Both teams are strong on offense, but the rebuilt Rams defense should tip the scales in their favor.

• Aaron Rodgers acknowledged this week that there is some concern that his knee injury could get worse as the season progresses. Green Bay has reduced his work in practice but Washington’s top-ranked defense could give him quite a test.

• Some of the best running backs in the N.F.L. will be out this week. LeSean McCoy (questionable, ribs) is likely out for Buffalo’s matchup with Minnesota, but the Vikings will also be without Dalvin Cook (out, hamstring). Philadelphia will be without Darren Sproles and Jay Ajayi, leaving Corey Clement to take over, while Jacksonville had spent the week believing Leonard Fournette would be ready only to have reports surface this morning that he will sit in favor of T.J. Yeldon. With Devonta Freeman out for Atlanta, Tevin Coleman should get more work.

• Ereck Flowers of the Giants already seemed like a draft bust, especially after the No. 9 pick in the 2015 draft was asked to move to right tackle once the team signed Nate Solder. Now Flowers has lost that job to Chad Wheeler, a second-year player who started five games as a rookie last season and will have his hands full against a decent Houston front-seven.
