The 2018 Major League Baseball trade deadline will arrive at 4 p.m. EST on July 31. That gives contenders (and sellers) time between now and then to load up for a stretch run and a pennant race, or tear down for a better tomorrow.
Already, Manny Machado has been traded from the Orioles to the Dodgers, Brad Hand from the Padres to the Indians and Jesse Chavez from the Rangers to the Cubs.
What’s next?
Will the Yankees make a splash for a starting pitcher? Will the Mets sell high on Jacob deGrom? Where will the Phillies turn after missing out on the Machado sweepstakes?

Brad Hand to Padres
July 19: Cleveland had one of baseball’s worst bullpens in the first half of the season. By adding the dominant Brad Hand—along with youngster Adam Cimber—that can change down the stretch. This move extends Cleveland’s window beyond 2018, and sets up manager Terry Francona to have a deeper roster in October.
