Kevin Durant Wishes He Could Have Finished Game After 5th Ejection of Season

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant discussed his league-leading fifth ejection in Thursday's 116-107 defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks.

After the game, Durant said his frustration had grown over what he believed had been missed calls on fouls against him when he was driving to the basket. He added his emotions got the better of him, and he wished he could've been there for the rest of Thursday's game.

Durant's ejection came with 2.4 seconds remaining in the first half. A referee gave him a technical foul for arguing on the baseline, and when the nine-time All-Star persisted, he received a second technical foul:

The Athletic's Anthony Slater noted Durant's five technical fouls this season are three more than he had over his entire career entering the 2017-18 season. According to ESPN Stats & Info, only Rasheed Wallace has received more ejections in a single season over the past 25 years. He had seven in both 1999-00 and 2000-01.

Normally, losing Durant in the middle of a game wouldn't be a big problem for the Warriors. However, they're without Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, both of whom are recovering from injuries. The team also announced Andre Iguodala was dealing with left knee soreness that forced him to exit Tuesday's loss early.

As frustrated as Durant may be during games with referee decisions, he may have to adopt the adage that discretion is the better part of valor so as not to risk further ejections, thus putting further strain on the Warriors' lack of depth.
