Eagles Injury Report: Alshon Jeffery and Jason Peters might not play this week? - Bleeding Green Nation

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Week 14 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Four players DID NOT PRACTICE: Fletcher Cox, T.J. Edwards, Michael Jacquet, and Rudy Ford.

Cox missed two practices last week before playing on Sunday. I’d guess the Eagles are taking the same cautious approach with him this week, especially since Cox was available to talk to reporters on Wednesday.

Edwards was limited in practice last week and saw limited playing time in Week 13. To be determined if he can play this week.

Jacquet’s injury isn’t good news for an Eagles team that’s already thin at cornerback. His status could explain why the team used a practice squad protection Kevon Seymour. The Eagles could look to elevate Seymour for Sunday’s game.

Ford could be on track to miss his fourth straight game and his eighth this season.

Three players were LIMITED: Alshon Jeffery, Jason Peters, and Darius Slay.

Interesting exchange during Doug Pederson’s press conference today. He left the door open for Jeffery and Peters being replaced:

Q: You mentioned some possible offensive line changes as you as you look for a spark on offense. Are there changes you’re going to make elsewhere, specifically with Jason Peters and Alshon Jeffery?

DOUG PEDERSON: Well with those two guys I got to see today just how they’re feeling. I know both those guys are sore and I haven’t made a firm commitment yet either way. So, it could be another change, it’s always a possibility. Like I said we’ll have the next guy up, we’ll have them ready to go and hopefully these guys get healthy this week and can give us something in the game.

We’ll see how this goes but it seems like Jeffery and Peters might be getting benched under the guise of “injury.” It’d be the right move for the Eagles to not play these struggling veterans. They’re not helping in the short-term or the long-term.

Slay was limited by the calf injury that kept him limited last week and forced him to leave Week 13’s game early. He’s expected to suit up this week but he’s clearly not at 100%. With Slay and Jacquet banged up, the Eagles only have two full-time healthy corners on the 53-man roster: Avonte Maddox and Nickell Robey-Coleman. Again, they’ll probably look to elevate the aforementioned Seymour for Sunday’s game.

Good news for the Saints on the injury front with starting defensive end Marcus Davenport and starting cornerback Janoris Jenkins returning to practice after missing Week 13.

It’s unclear if former Eagles cornerback and 2018 NFC Championship Game hero Patrick Robinson will be able to play. P-Rob’s been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury.
