Bryce Harper: Walk-off grand slam 'is what you live for' - New York Post

It still doesn’t get tired for the Nationals’ $330 million man.

Bryce Harper’s walk-off grand slam, the sixth of his career, lifted the Phillies to a 7-5 win over the Cubs on Thursday, and it was a moment the slugger will remember.

“That was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever had in my life,” he told reporters shortly after sending a 2-2 slider from Derek Holland in the second deck in right field of Citizens Bank Park.

“Winning a division, getting to the playoffs, things like that, of course, are great things,” Harper said. “But being able to hit a walk-off homer like that is what you live for.”

The adrenaline hit as he rounded the bases: It took him just over eight seconds to go from home to first, but the rest of his home run trot took a zippy 11.3 seconds.

A few Phillies players had already adjourned to the locker room, but it didn’t take long for them to realize what had happened back out on the field.

“We could hear the stadium rock first because there’s a little delay on the TV, so you knew something good happened,” Drew Smyly said. “Then he just launched it up to the moon.”
