This is a huge move for Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan. He better hope he gets the right quarterback.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Jets moved from sixth to third in this year's draft, in a deal with the Colts. The Jets sent both of their second-round picks for this year to the Colts, and also their second-round pick next year. The Jets move in front of the Browns at No. 4 and Broncos at No. 5. Both are quarterback-needy teams, but the Browns also pick first overall this year.
THE RIGHT MOVE?
It looks like a great move right now. And while we admire Maccagnan's boldness, this was the easy part. Now comes the tougher part — the part that could cost him his job if he doesn't get it right. Maccagnan has to land the right quarterback at No. 3. If he doesn't — and if this is another failed pick, like Christian Hackenberg — Maccagnan surely will be finished with the Jets.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST?
The last time the Jets drafted an offensive player in Round 1, which they surely will do again this year, was 2009. That year, they traded up to draft quarterback Mark Sanchez fifth overall. They sent a second-round pick plus three players to the Browns. Sanchez looked for a bit like he'd be the answer for the Jets, but he fizzled out. This actually wasn't an awful trade, all things considered.
