Johnny Manziel worked out at the University of San Diego's pro day Thursday, showcasing a variety of throws all over the field for a number of NFL scouts and front-office personnel.

So, how did the former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns end up throwing at San Diego's pro day?
According to Bruce Feldman of SI.com, "The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner got married earlier this month and has been training for his return to football after two years out of the NFL in San Diego with his old quarterback coach, George Whitfield. Torero coaches didn’t have a quarterback available to throw at their pro day and approached Manziel, who agreed to take part."
Feldman added that "Manziel has been working on his conditioning, but a big part of that process in the past few weeks has been building his arm strength back up, more than just getting the velocity back but also be able to handle a lot more reps."
Manziel, 25, last appeared in the NFL in 2015 for the Browns. In his career, he threw for 1,675 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing just 57 percent of his passes. He also rushed 259 yards and a score.
But off-field issues and legal concerns ended his time in Cleveland just two years in, and Manziel has been attempting a comeback since. It appeared as though he might reach a deal with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but the team didn't sign him before a Jan. 31 deadline set by Manziel's agent, making that potential union unlikely at this time.
Manziel will also participate in the Spring League, a training camp and exhibition for potential NFL talent. He is putting in the leg work to showcase his ability for the NFL crowd, though it remains to be seen if it will be enough to earn himself an invitation to training camp after his controversial past.
