Jake Paul and Nate Diaz press conference ends in massive brawl - Yahoo Sports

A press conference previewing Saturday night’s boxing match between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz turned into a brawl, and a member of one of the fighters' entourages reportedly wound up in a Dallas hospital.

The combatants exchanged threats and insults from behind a press table to get things started. Diaz, a 38-year-old mixed-martial arts (MMA) competitor, hurled homophobic remarks at Paul, 26, whose boxing career grew from his success as a YouTube personality. That was after Paul said he was going to end his opponent’s career Saturday at nearby American Airlines Center.

Diaz and Paul eventually stood near one another on stage for a photo-op, surrounded by their security personnel and support team. Video posted to TMZ shows the fighters flexing their muscles and posturing before stepping away from one another. Then the pushing, shoving and punching started between their camps.

“Nate’s team has emailed my team trying to claim assault after his team swung first,” Paul later posted on social media. “Apparently the guy who swung first is at the hospital getting stitches.”

It’s not clear who Paul is referencing or whether anyone was actually hospitalized following the melee.

“Hilarious these fake gangsters acting like this!” Paul added.

Paul offered Diaz $10 million to fight him in an MMA competition at a later date.

Diaz boasts a 35-22 record in martial arts competitions. Also known for getting into skirmishes outside the ring, he celebrated arguably his biggest victory in 2016 when he stopped MMA superstar Conor McGregor in the second round of their fight in Las Vegas.

Paul, whose pugilism experience has been in the boxing ring, is 6-1 as a prizefighter with wins over 48-year-old UFC star Andrew Silva and former Knicks guard Nate Robinson.

He said in January he’d started training to fight in martial arts competitions.
