Eric Weddle coming out of retirement for playoff run with desperate Rams - New York Post

The Rams are bringing Eric Weddle out of retirement to play safety in the postseason.

Following a season-ending injury to Jordan Fuller, Weddle’s agent, David Canter, announced that he would be signing with the Rams on Wednesday. A two-time All Pro, Weddle last played in 2019, also with the Rams. He’s now 37 years old.

Weddle played the first nine seasons of his career with the Chargers, before going to Baltimore for three years. He was selected to six Pro Bowl teams and has 29 career interceptions.

Still, it’s of course a risk to bring back a player who hasn’t seen a football field in two years. The Rams do have a number of injuries to contend with in their secondary, though. Safety Taylor Rapp is in concussion protocol and cornerback Darious Williams is dealing with a shoulder injury.

On top of Fuller’s injury, that’s created a vacuum that Weddle will attempt to fill.

The Rams play the Cardinals in the wild-card round on Monday night. During the regular season, Los Angeles finished 12-5, winning the NFC West.
