Bashaud Breeland concussion: cleared to play in Chiefs-Bills AFC title - Arrowhead Pride

The Kansas City Chiefs announced Saturday that cornerback Bashaud Breeland has cleared the concussion protocol — meaning he will be available to the club in the AFC championship against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Breeland suffered a concussion and was ruled out of the team’s Divisional round game against the Cleveland Browns last week. We covered the importance of Breeland’s status earlier this week — given the Bills’ outstanding receiving unit of Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley and John Brown, Breeland being available means the Chiefs starting secondary will be healthy entering the game.

Breeland and fellow cornerback Charvarius Ward are expected to start on the outside, with rookie L’Jarius Sneed at the nickel. By extension, that leaves safety Tyrann Mathieu available to continue to serve as defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s ultimate chess piece.

Cornerback Rashad Fenton is still questionable for the game — as are running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Word on those players usually comes through overnight.
