Odell Beckham Jr. sent home from Browns facility today with an illness; hasn’t tested positive for COVID-19 t - cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Odell Beckham Jr. was sent home today with an illness, coach Kevin Stefanski announced at the outset of his Thursday press conference.

He said Beckham hasn’t tested positive for COVID-19, but was tested again today and results will be in tomorrow.

He said Beckham "was feeling under the weather, so we sent him home out of an abundance of caution.''

He said the Browns were already on 'high alert’ regarding COVID-19 and that there’s not much more they can do. They’ve followed all COVID-19 protocols to the letter, and have even gone above and beyond what they’re asked to do. If Beckham turns up positive tomorrow, the Browns will likely have to shut down their facility. As it stands, they’re going through with practice today, which has been moved indoors because of weather.

He said "I don’t want to go there yet’' in terms of Beckham possibly not being able to play in Pittsburgh on Sunday, but acknowledged how valuable he is to the team.

He leads the Browns with 294 receiving yards and is tied with Jarvis Landry with 21 receptions. He’s also tied with Kareem Hunt with three TD catches, and is fourth in rushing with 72 yards and a TDs.

His breakout game of the season was in Dallas, where he caught two TD passes -- one from his best friend Landry -- and rushed for a 50-yard TD off a reverse.

To make matters worse for the Browns, receiver Jarvis Landry sat out practice on Wednesday with sore ribs from taking a hard shot in Sunday’s 32-23 victory over the Colts, and because of his continuing recovery from his hip surgery in February.
