“It’s Everyone’s Last Dance” – Daniel Cormier Shares His Well-Wishes for Anderson Silva - Essentially Sports

This weekend, Anderson Silva will most likely step for the last time inside the Octagon. ‘The Spider’ has shared the Octagon with several UFC greats, which also includes former UFC double champ, Daniel Cormier. Having been inside the Octagon with Silva, Cormier wants Silva to have fun in his ‘last dance’.

Anderson Silva will fight Uriah Hall in the main event of UFC Vegas 12. Already past his mid-40s, Silva is way past his prime who is fighting only because he loves the sport of MMA. However, he has confirmed that this will be the last time that we will see him in the UFC.

Silva isn’t the first big name in the UFC to hang up his gloves in 2020. Just before him, Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov have also announced their respective retirements. Cormier took to Twitter and highlighted the same, while also wishing him luck for his swan song.

Silva and Cormier fought each other at UFC 200. However, the fight wasn’t what it could’ve been as Silva was stepping on in a mere two days’ notice. Cormier had been preparing to fight Jon Jones for the light heavyweight title. However, the fight fell through after Jones was informed of a potential anti-doping violation.

Can Anderson Silva make one last addition to his already great UFC highlight reel?

Anderson Silva‘s run as a middleweight champ is one of the best as far as stats are concerned. The Brazilian had his moments when he absolutely lit up his opponents and left several of the opponents with their jaws on the floor.

However, even the most hardcore Anderson Silva fan will agree that Father Time has caught up with the former middleweight champ. Ever since he lost the belt to Chris Weidman, his career has spiraled downwards. Apart from a win over Derek Brunson and a no-contest against Nick Diaz, Silva has lost all his fight since 2012.

However, Hall’s style of fighting will always be more suitable to Anderson Silva. Even though he has lost the pace and dexterity that gave him the edge over his opponents, the chances of Silva coming out on top are still present, even though they are on the slimmer side.
