Quinton Jackson took his knockout loss to Fedor Emelianenko in stride.
“We didn’t get the outcome we wanted, but you know what, I knew one of us was going to get knocked out,” “Rampage” Jackson said in a video posted on his official Instagram account after the Bellator 237 headliner on Sunday at Saitama Super Arena. “But I didn’t know it was going to be f*ckin’ me.”
Along with the video post, Jackson added the caption, “win some lose some get paid for all.”
The former UFC champ vowed to come back stronger and to lose weight for his next outing. He weighed in at the heavyweight limit for the Emelianenko bout, his first stoppage loss since 2005, and “felt like a hippopotamus out there.”
“That’s my fault,” Jackson added. “No excuses. It’s alright. I’ll be back. But I ain’t going back at heavyweight. I’ve got to lose this weight.”
Jackson later deleted the video post, but followed up with another that expressed a similarly optimistic sentiment:
Jackson made his mark in the sport at 205 pounds, winning the UFC title in 2007 with a knockout of Chuck Liddell. Later in his career as a Bellator fighter, he said a thyroid condition prevented him from cutting weight, prompting a move to heavyweight.
The loss left Jackson at 1-3 in his past four outings with Bellator.
