Last year, the Oregon Ducks had the program’s first-ever consensus top-10 nationally-ranked recruiting class.

So, what will they do for an encore?

Oregon fans will find out Wednesday during the first day of the 72-hour early signing period, which allows recruits to sign binding National Letters of Intent starting at 7 a.m. (based on prospect’s local time).

Oregon’s current haul is rated No. 16 nationally and No. 2 in the Pac-12 Conference by 247Sports.

A solid foundation is in place, led by five-star linebacker Noah Sewell and consensus four-star quarterback Jay Butterfield, the nation’s No. 3 pro-style signal-caller, but the lasting impression of the 2020 recruiting effort will come down to how Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff close.

Oregon is in a neck-and-neck battle late with USC for five-star linebacker Justin Flowe, the nation’s top uncommitted prospect, who is set to announce his decision on ESPNU at 11 a.m. PT.

The Ducks are also hoping to add five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo, four-star cornerback Dontae Manning and possibly four-star athlete Elijhah Badger after the early signing period.

But it’s not likely to be all good news in Eugene.

Four-star wide receiver Johnny Wilson appears destined for a signing day-flip to Arizona State; four-star defensive back Myles Slusher has taken late visits to Arkansas, Nebraska and UCLA; four-star wide receiver Kris Hutson reportedly won’t sign a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period; and three-star linebacker Peter Latu and three-star tight end Seth Figgins may eventually need to head elsewhere for college.
