David Fizdale was laughing and shaking hands with several members of Knicks brass just hours before news leaked of his curiously timed firing.
Video shows a smiling Fizdale greeting team president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry, among others, Friday at the team’s practice facility in Westchester.
It is not unusual for the Knicks higher-ups to attend practice, but it was unclear why Fizdale was permitted to hold practice and speak with reporters in the first place, hours before being canned.
The strange scene previously was reported by The Post’s Marc Berman.
Fizdale, who was 4-18 so far in his second season with the Knicks and 21-83 overall, was replaced by assistant Mike Miller on an interim basis. Miller previously served as the franchise’s G-League coach, winning coach of the year in 2018.
