We already know Serena Williams dominates on the court, but did you know she also dominates in the nail salon?
In a new video for Allure, the 23-time Grand Slam champ demonstrated her skills as a manicurist, creating tennis-inspired nail art for a lucky model.
“I feel like if there’s one thing I should be able to do it’s draw a tennis ball,” the Olympic gold medalist, 37, explained. “I’ve hit literally a trillion of them. Gotta make it perfect.”
One of her two hand-painted tennis balls, however, turned out less than ideal in the end. “That one’s a tennis ball and this one’s a fun ball,” Williams joked. “That one’s after I hit it and this one is before I hit it.”
The whole manicure thing is nothing new for Williams. “No one likes getting their nails done more than I do,” she wrote on her Global Grind blog in 2010. “I go every four days to get a manicure and every seven days for a pedicure. So, I had a brilliant idea to get certified to be a nail tech.”
Williams enrolled at the Palm Beach Nail School, where students must take 240 hours’ worth of classes in order to graduate. “Don’t be surprised if you hear about a part-time job I’ve picked up at a local nail salon,” she wrote.
Good to know the greatest athlete alive already has a solid retirement plan.
