Head Coach Sean McVay did a fine job. RB Todd Gurley impressed. QB Jared Goff looked composed. RB C.J. Anderson ran heavy. And the Rams’ targets made things relatively easy for Goff.
But the most valuable player of the first half for the Los Angeles Rams against the Dallas Cowboys, and it wasn’t close, was the offensive line.
The OL absolutely mauled the Cowboys’ front giving Goff plenty of time to operate and opening huge holes for Gurley and Anderson in the ground game.
The Rams ran the ball 24 times for 170 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the strength of their OL while chewing up 20:12 of clock to the Cowboys’ 9:48.
The bottom line is that the OL helped the Rams relatively dominate the Cowboys in the first half. Their game control led the Rams to four scoring drives to open the game; the fifth only came up short because time ran out forcing K Greg Zuerlein to rush what would have been a record-breaking kick.
So give some love across the offense and defense. Props to the coaching staff.
But game recognize game. And right now, the OL deserves to be recognized for taking this one over for the first 30 minutes.
