Patriots' Robert Kraft not worried about Tom Brady's OTA absence, says he'll be at minicamp

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft told reporters Wednesday at an owners' meeting in Atlanta that he's been in touch with Tom Brady and expects the 40-year-old quarterback to be on hand for the team's minicamp in June.

Brady was absent Tuesday as the Patriots began organized team activities, a phase of the offseason program that he has regularly attended in past years even though participation is not mandatory.

"These are voluntary workouts... I think he’s in great shape," Kraft said Wednesday, according to NFL Network. "I think he’s at an age where he’s blessed to have three children, has responsibilities. It’s hard to fulfill those during the season."

Brady's absence has been scrutinized in part because of reports of tension among he, Kraft and coach Bill Belichick last season. And when asked Tuesday if he'd spoken to Brady, Belichick was terse.

"I'm not going to talk about the people that aren’t here," Belichick told reporters. "The guys who are here are improving, they're working hard. Those are the guys we’re going to focus on."

Kraft, for what it's worth, said Wednesday that "nothing's changed" in Brady and Belichick's relationship and "everything's good," according to NFL Network. He also told reporters that he expects tight end Rob Gronkowski, who's also been absent this week, to be present at the June minicamp, as well.
