NFL rumors: Ex-Cowboys WR Dez Bryant to Packers? Aaron Rodgers debunks latest report

It has been more than one month since the Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Dez Bryant.

Teams are deep into their off-season workouts, yet the former All-Pro remains out of work.

Yes, Bryant reportedly turned down a multi-year contract from the Baltimore Ravens.

Yes, Bryant expressed an interest in remaining in the NFC East.

But so far, the GiantsEagles and Redskins have not (at least publicly) indicated they are interested in Bryant.

There was a rumor going around last week about the Green Bay Packers possibly being a landing spot (although that rumor was started by Jason Witten, Bryant's former teammate in Dallas).

Based on what quarterback Aaron Rodgers said on Tuesday during OTAs, Bryant won't be packing his bags for the frozen tundra.

Per ESPN:

"Well, we like young receivers, so I'm assuming that's the way they're going to keep going," Rodgers said. "I don't know why you'd cut Jordy (Nelson) and bring in Dez, but he's a talented player. He's going to end up somewhere. If he ends up here, we'll obviously welcome him with open arms and get him up to speed as quick as possible."

Eagles OTA observations

The Packers released Nelson in March. Shortly thereafter, he signed with the Oakland Raiders.

Bryant remains the best available wide receiver on the open market. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named an All-Pro in 2014. That was also the last season he had more than 1,000 yards receiving. The 29-year-old Bryant played in all 16 games last season for the Cowboys, finishing with 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns.
