Offensive Player of the Week: Garrett Wilson, Ohio State WR
Wilson’s absence against Nebraska wasn’t the only reason Ohio State’s offense struggled that day, but it was at least part of the reason. We saw what the Buckeyes can do with their full complement of playmakers against Purdue, and we saw the multiple ways that Wilson can put pressure on a defense. He scored four times, all in the first half of a 59-31 win. The first touchdown came via a race to the pylon that Wilson won, the second on a contested back-shoulder throw, the third on a 51-yard end-around and the fourth on a 24-yard reception that came after Wilson side-stepped a couple would-be tacklers and stiff-armed likely first-round draft pick George Karlaftis. The final line: 10 receptions, 126 yards, three touchdowns; plus one carry for 51 yards and another score. Ohio State has no shortage of playmakers. Wilson reminded us on Saturday that he might be the best one.
