Georgia coach Kirby Smart knows his football team let one slide through their fingers in the second half of Saturday night's 41-24 loss at Alabama, the Bulldogs third setback of his tenure against Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Georgia led at halftime after a spirited opening two quarters before flatlining offensively and giving up several big plays in the passing game, surrendering the game's final 21 points to fall from the ranks of the unbeatens.
For the nation's top-ranked defense coming in, it wasn't supposed to go like this at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
"You can't listen to the noise. So are there things we've got to work on? Absolutely," Smart said after his team's loss. "Are there things we got better at in this game? Absolutely. We just played a really good football team, alright, and we didn't play our best game and we turned it over three times. I thought we did some good things in special teams.
"I thought Jake Camarda was a weapon and we've got to get better. I realize that and that's on me and that's my responsibility and that's what we're going to do going forward."
