UFC 229 salaries: McGregor banks $3 million, Khabib gets $2 million

Win or lose, Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov are set to bank serious dough for their main event clash tomorrow night (Sat., Oct. 6, 2018) at UFC 229 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Per a document released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) earlier today, McGregor is expected to pull in a wealthy $3 million payday for his return to the Octagon, while Khabib will make the most he ever has with a $2 million fight purse.

While these numbers are eye popping for a mixed martial arts (MMA) bout, both lightweights are scheduled to make more once PPV buys, merchandise sales, and Reebok payouts are calculated. Not to mention McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey that will grace the Octagon canvas.

Here is a complete list of UFC 229’s official salaries:

Khabib Nurmagomedov: $2 million (no win bonus)

vs. Conor McGregor: $3 million (no win bonus)

vs. Tony Martin: $28,000 to show ($28,000 to win)

Already pegged as the biggest fight in mixed martial arts (MMA) history, McGregor vs. Khabib has the potential to eclipse 2 million PPV buys and set the all-time UFC record. Big numbers are par for the course with McGregor fights but this one is extra special, especially considering Khabib’s undefeated record, McGregor’s anticipated return to the cage after a two year absence, and the bad blood shared between the two fighters.

If this PPV does what it is supposed to do these salaries will be money well spent.
