Red Sox fans psyched for World Series

Red Sox fans are amped up for the World Series that begins Tuesday at Fenway Park, confident the team will strike out their opponent whether it is the L.A. Dodgers or the Milwaukee Brewers.

The excitement of Thursday’s game against the Houston Astros when the Sox won the 2018 American League Championship Series had not worn off hours after the game as fans walked along Jersey Street by Fenway Park.

“I’m still losing my mind,” said Kevin Dillon, 43, of Brookline. “I’m trying not to jinx it. Boston fans are superstitious. We expect heartbreak. But this is a good team. They have heart. They are playing great baseball.”

Patrick Quinn, 48, of Boston, grew up in Ohio but has been a lifelong Red Sox fan.

“I was a Red Sox and Celtics fan growing up as a little boy,” Quinn said. “The game was awesome. I was hooting and hollering. (Starting pitcher David) Price pitched the game of his career.”

Quinn predicts the Red Sox will face the Dodgers and silence the National League team.

“We just know,” Quinn said. “This whole season — they’ve been constantly shutting down teams.”

His dog, Thor, a rescue pup from Houston however, had to choose sides, Quinn said.

“Everyone was saying, ‘Who is Thor going to root for?’ He’s a Boston fan now,” Quinn laughed.

Joseph Meads, 31, of Las Vegas, in town for a friend’s wedding toured Fenway Park yesterday. The timing for his trip was perfect.

“Growing up playing baseball, the Red Sox was one of my teams, always,” Meads said. “It’s absolutely amazing, euphoric. They are winners.”

Justin Costello, 60 and his wife, Julie Costello, 58, of Portland, Maine, were ecstatic.

“They are good,” Justin said. “I can’t wait until they win the World Series.”

“This hat is 14 years old,” he added, pointing to his Red Sox cap. “I got it in 2004. It was the happiest day of my life — after my wedding.”
