Beckham sees first target as Giants punt
On the ensuing New York drive, Manning threw three passes, but it was a 46-yard run from Saquon Barkley that put them in field goal position. Beckham was not targeted on the drive, with one pass going to Barkley and the other two going to Shepard. The drive did end in a field goal. After an Eagles punt, Manning was sacked from his own 9-yard line for an 8-yard loss. On 3rd-and-15, Manning dumped off to Beckham, who took it 12 yards for his first reception of the game. Eagles still up, 7-3, nearing the end of the first quarter.
Manning picked on second pass attempt
The Eagles won the toss and chose to defer. On the Giants’ first play, Manning went to Latimer for 8 yards. On second down, he targets his tight end, not OBJ, and the pass is intercepted. Not a great start for New York! The Eagles then marched down the field and quickly scored a touchdown.

The NFC East is in a sorry state, but that wasn’t entirely expected, thus you’re seeing a lot of them on primetime football. On Thursday Night Football, the New York Giants will play host to the Philadelphia Eagles in a battle of sub-.500 teams, but ones that are still contending for the division. The game is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NFL Network and FOX (live streaming via FuboTV, FOX Sports GO, NFL, Amazon).
Philadelphia is second in the division with a 2-3 record, owning wins over over the Falcons and Colts, but losses to the Buccaneers, Titans and most recently, the Vikings. Thursday’s game will be their first divisional matchup. New York is 1-4, and at the bottom of the division. Their lone win was a close game against the Texans, while they’ve fallen to the Jaguars, Saints, Panthers and the rival Cowboys.
Rookie running back Saquon Barkley has been looking good for New York, but the offense still has struggled to put up points. Eli Manning has just six touchdown passes in five games, and averages 250.8 passing yards per game. Since returning from injury, Carson Wentz has looked good for the Eagles, completing 67.2 percent of his passes for 914 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception.
The NFC East combined to go 0-4 in Week 5, with Washington notably dominated by the Saints on Monday Night Football. It probably won’t take much to win this division, so any head-to-head matchup is incredibly crucial.

- In their final injury report, the Eagles ruiled out D.J. Alexander, Nathan Gerry, Corey Graham, Haloti Ngata and Darren Sproles. The team is down to just three healthy safeties, and a severely-weakened special teams unit.
- Evan Engram is out for the Giants, but it appears that Olivier Vernon will play for the first time this season, which is great news for the team.
- The Eagles called up Tre Sullivan from their practice squad, as they’re simply running out of safeties. They waived defensive lineman T.Y. McGill in a corresponding move.
- Philadelphia is allowing a lot of pressure, and much of that pressure has been blamed on Lane Johnson, but the folks at Bleeding Green Nation think that’s a myth, and dive into some film.
With a quarterback like Carson Wentz — big-bodied, determined to extend the play, willing to hang in the pocket, tackle-breaker — pressure charting can lie. It seems the offensive line is relinquishing rush after rush, when really, they’re doing what they can be reasonably expected to do.
