Wells Fargo Championship 2018: Tee times, pairings for Tiger Woods on Friday

Tiger Woods has an early wake-up call on Friday in Charlotte. The 14-time major winner will be out in the morning wave in the second round of the Wells Fargo Championship. He’ll go with Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed at 7:40 a.m. ET off the 10th tee, meaning he’ll be up well before dawn.

Woods generally prefers to play bright and early at these events. Of course, you’re always going to get at least one afternoon tee time. But his routine throughout the week is often to go right at the crack of dawn, whether that’s in a practice round or in the pro-am tee time. Those usually come before even 7 a.m. on the Wednesday before the tournament actually starts. So while 7:40 a.m. might seem early to watch the biggest draw in the history of the game, it’s not for Woods himself.

Tiger began his first Wells Fargo Championship since 2012 with an even-par round of 71. It could have been much better, given his unsteady putting, but he’ll take it after a three-week layoff and playing on a course that was beating up a loaded field. That even-par number is good enough for a tie for 34th. Tiger said he could not get his speed and feel on the greens, and that resulted in a number of short-misses and three-putts that hindered the round. He made 31 strokes with the flatstick on Thursday. On Friday, he’ll get some fresh tracks and pure greens with only four tee times ahead of him in this full field event.

PGA Tour Live will have your coverage of his early-morning round, coming on the air at 7 a.m. as soon as the first group goes. Golf Channel has the afternoon coverage, but they will miss the entirety of Woods’ round unless there’s some unforeseen weather delay. The late groups featured for that TV coverage will include Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy. Here’s your full tee sheet for the second round in Charlotte:
